ISQua Accreditation - Organization

ISQua Accreditation - Standards

We believe in the process of accreditation and have chosen to make ourselves accountable to international standards with a focus on continued improvement. To that end, CAC participated in a formal external review of our Organization as well as our Standards through the International Society for Quality in Health Care. ISQua’s International Accreditation Programme (IAP) is the leading International Health Care external evaluation programme of its kind. For additional information about International Society for Quality in Health Care and the IAP, please visit www.isqua.org.

The following are comments made by the two survey teams that completed the review of our standards and our organization.

On CAC’s Standards

The Canadian Accreditation Council has been meticulous in developing three tiers (Generic, Program and Enhanced Designations) of standards so that the human services organizations seeking accreditation are evaluated using the most appropriate standards for the programs they deliver. The standards are very client focused with the terminology of “person served” a continual reminder of that focus.

On CAC’s Standards

The standards require goal setting and data gathering for the organization, the program and for the person served and performance analysis of these data, of progress to goals and review of actions taken to improve is required. The rights of the person served, their safety and that of the staff are strong features of the standards. Key stakeholders, particularly representatives of the organizations accredited, are involved in standards development and review and in the accreditation process.
